Love, Laughter, and Taxes: A Tale of Two International Tax Nerds’ Journey to Marriage!

In the world of international tax consulting, where spreadsheets and numbers reign supreme, love found its way through the maze of deductions and exemptions for two of our very own. Yes, you heard it right – Qulanda and Kate, our International Tax Nerds, are both tying the knot!

For Qulanda (Q, as we all know her) – It all began with a serendipitous encounter back in 2009, when they found themselves in the same bridal party, celebrating the union of mutual friends. Sparks flew, but alas, the demands of school and work intervened, putting their budding romance on hold. Fast forward to 2019, and fate intervened once again, bringing them together when the timing was just right to script their love story.

The proposal itself was straight out of a romantic comedy. Amidst the hustle and bustle of running errands during the busy Christmas season, Darrius thought he found the perfect moment to pop the question. But being the meticulous Director of Operations she is, Q insisted on a do-over, prompting Darrius to pull the car over, look her in the eyes, and ask again, and of course, she said “Yes!” both times! They couldn’t leave out their French Bulldog, Chloe, as they celebrated their engagement with a toast at home, snuggled up by the Christmas tree. Q and Darrius will have an intimate June wedding in the Summer of 2024.

As if one surprise engagement wasn’t enough, our team had yet another reason to celebrate! Just days before Q’s heartwarming proposal, Kate received her own special moment. While spending Christmas with Kate’s family in Charleston, SC, Corey whisked her away to a dock where he got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Their beloved dog, Tilly, decked out in a festive bandana, bore witness to this beautiful moment.

Kate and Corey’s love story took flight in the digital realm of Hinge, a modern-day matchmaker that brought them together in 2021. Their first date, sipping on bloody marys on a Saturday morning, marked the beginning of a love story that was destined for greatness.

But Corey had one more surprise up his sleeve – or rather, in the air. He orchestrated a heartwarming reunion by flying in Kate’s best friends, his own confidants, and his parents to join Kate’s family in the celebration, making it a Christmas to remember. Kate and Corey will say “I do” Valentine’s Day weekend of 2025.
