The International Tax Nerds Enjoy a Day of Service with the Atlanta Community Food Bank

On January 10th, the International Tax Nerds put their calculators and pencils down to enjoy an afternoon of service at the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) near downtown Atlanta. Working with other volunteer groups and individuals, our Schwartz International team spent their time in the Food Sorting / Product Rescue Center working together to inspect, sort, and pack quality grocery donations.

With rolled up sleeves, it was a lot of fun volunteering and getting hands-on experience with the hard work that goes into preparing the thousands of pounds of food donations that come into the center for distribution. We also took some time out to learn about the staggering statistics of people (mostly children) in our community that the hunger crisis has impacted. We are very honored and thankful for the opportunity to contribute to such an amazing organization, and strongly encourage those in position to do so as well.

A cornerstone of the community, the Atlanta Community Food Bank distributes nearly 70 million pounds of food and groceries a year to 600 nonprofit partner feeding programs, including after-school programs, senior centers, community kitchens, shelters and pantries in metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

Following our time at the food bank, we celebrated the January birthdays of two of our very special International Tax Nerds, Marc Schwartz and Paul Tadros.
