As Billy Joel once famously wrote, when will you realize Vienna waits for you? Well, for Charles, it waited until he had the opportunity to attend the Allinial Global EMEIA Tax Conference in June of 2023. It was a great experience to network with other tax professionals from across Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa, and to learn from the experts about the latest trends and developments in the tax field.
The conference program included sessions on topics such as digitalization, transfer pricing, VAT, cross-border taxation, and tax compliance. The speakers were very knowledgeable and engaging, and the discussions were lively and informative.
One of the highlights of the conference was the gala dinner at the Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg emperors. Charles enjoyed a guided tour of the palace and its magnificent gardens, followed by a delicious meal and entertainment in the Orangery. 
Besides the conference, Charles had some time to explore the beautiful city of Vienna, which is rich in culture and history. He visited the Hofburg Palace, the former imperial palace, and experienced the famous Viennese coffee house culture which included some of the local specialties, such as the Sacher Torte, a chocolate cake with apricot jam.
Vienna is a city that combines tradition and modernity, elegance and charm, art, and music. We highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a destination that offers both professional and personal enrichment.
