Building Global Connections

Marc is non-stop. This week our Chief International Tax Nerd is having fun in Chicago at the Allinial Global 2023 Executive Team Conference. Marc greeted Ozgur Demirdoven, Allinial Global’s Executive Vice President, with a big hug and a smile. Ozgur was also happy to see Marc, but informed him that his name was omitted from our last blog post “Building Global Connections.” Marc told him he would make it up to him by having Chap GPT writing our next blog post to him, in the voice of Shakespeare.

So, Ozgur, here’s to you. Please keep up the great leadership, and the International Tax Nerds look forward to continuing our strong relationship with you.

Hark, fair Ozgur, I stand before thee, wracked with remorse and sorrow,
Forsooth, I have erred, an accidental act of negligence I must borrow.
In the realm of cyberspace, where words take flight and dance,
I committed a sin most grave, forgetting thee in the international tax expanse.

Oh, noble Ozgur, forgive this hapless bard for his grievous sin,
Like a faltering steed, my memory did falter and miss the mark within.
For in the grand tapestry of words that adorned the blog’s vast sphere,
Thy name, thy essence, did elude me, and for this, I shed a woeful tear.

Marc Schwartz, the protagonist, did capture my quill’s desire,
Yet in my haste, I did omit thy name, an oversight most dire.
For what good is a tale of international tax in the land of Aus,
Without thy wisdom, thy knowledge, thou art the one who sparks the rousing applause.

Thy expertise and insights are a beacon, guiding the way,
To unravel the mysteries of tax laws, from night to day.
‘Twas my folly, my negligent folly, that led us astray,
And for this, I humbly beg thy forgiveness, I do pray.

With bended knee and a heart heavy with regret,
I offer this sonnet, an ode to thee, lest thou forget,
That in the vast expanse of the blogosphere, a poet did stumble,
And in his haste, he overlooked thy name, causing thy spirit to crumble.

So, dear Ozgur, accept this jestful apology, writ in iambic rhyme,
May it soothe thy soul, and bring mirth to thy pantomime.
For in my misstep, I recognize the error of my way,
And I promise to make amends, with thy name held high, come what may.

Let this jest be a testament to our human frailty,
A reminder that even the most eloquent can fall to brevity.
But fear not, dear Ozgur, for thou shalt not be forgotten,
In the annals of international tax, thy name shall be begotten.

With that, I bid thee adieu, with a contrite heart I depart,
To rectify my mistake, and amend this broken cart.
Forsooth, Ozgur, thy presence shall grace the blog anew,
And the world shall know of thy wisdom, so steadfast and true.

Tax season is underway, and the International Tax Nerds have been busy; so busy in fact that we played around with Chat GPT to write this blog post for us…

In today’s global business environment, it is not uncommon for professionals to travel overseas to meet with clients and partners. In fact, international travel has become a vital component of many companies’ growth strategies, as it allows them to expand their reach and build relationships with clients in different parts of the world. Recently, Charles and Marc, two successful professionals, traveled to Mexico City and Australia, respectively, for business purposes. Let’s take a closer look at their experiences and what they gained from their trips.

Charles, a tax consultant, traveled to Mexico City to meet with existing clients and discuss international tax updates. As an expert in tax laws, Charles knows that staying informed about changes in tax regulations is essential for his clients’ success. Mexico has a unique tax system, which can be challenging for foreign companies to navigate. Therefore, Charles knew that meeting with his clients in person would be the best way to discuss the latest updates and how they could affect their business. During his trip, Charles met with his clients and discussed various tax issues and shared insights about the potential impact of the new U.S. tax reform legislation and how it could affect their cross-border transactions. By discussing these issues in person, Charles was able to offer personalized advice and build trust with his clients.

Marc, on the other hand, traveled to Australia to meet with existing clients and present alongside the CEO of Allinial Global, Mark Koziel. Allinial Global is a leading association of independent accounting and consulting firms, and Schwartz International is a member of the organization. Marc’s presentation on international tax was well-received, and he was able to strengthen his relationships with his clients and the Allinial Global community. Marc had the opportunity to network with other professionals in his field, including those at Bentleys and Enspira Financial, which helped him gain valuable insights into the latest industry trends and best practices.

Both Charles and Marc’s trips were successful, and they were able to achieve their goals and have fun while doing it. Charles had the opportunity to send a picture of himself in the plane’s cockpit to his 18-month-old plane-loving son, Jones, and bring him his first airplane wing pin. Marc’s daughter joined him on his trip where they took part in a boat cruise and enjoyed sightseeing.

International travel has become a vital component of modern business. By traveling overseas to meet with clients and partners, professionals like Charles and Marc are able to build relationships, stay informed about the latest industry trends, and offer personalized advice to their clients. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, it is essential for companies to embrace international travel and use it as a tool for growth and success.
